Commissioners appoint Tammy Pierce to Elections Board and authorize road-resurfacing applications

Road funding and projects: County staff reported an unexpected allocation of $1,103,024.99 in Local Road Assistance funds from the Georgia Department of Transportation and proposed packaging those LR funds with anticipated FY2024–25 LMIG allocations to advance resurfacing of approximately 10.37 miles across five county roads. Staff identified Warm Springs Road (from SR 315), West Bond Acre Road (US 27 to Fortson Road), Mountain Hill Road (near I-85 bridge), Barnes Mill Road and Fortune Hole Road as candidates; total project budget including required matches and estimated overages was presented at about $2,126,24.99 (staff cited the $2.126M range). The board authorized submission of the LR/LMIG application and delegated execution of documents to the county manager and clerk.
Staff said projects would be competitively bid once funds are received and that any overages would be covered from county TSPLOST/reserve sources. The board also requested a multi-year Road & Bridge master plan RFP is in process to provide a data-driven prioritization of future resurfacing work.
