Planning staff previews March 11 agenda; HCD report due April 1, to be reviewed March 17

Planning staff on Feb. 25 told the Pleasanton Planning Commission to expect three items on the March 11 agenda: a city-council recommendation to repeal and replace Pleasanton Municipal Code chapter 18.110 addressing wireless facilities (including new policies for macro towers, small-cell facilities and modifications to existing towers); a proposed street-naming package and an amendment to Vesting Tentative Map 8680 at 330 Bush Road; and a request for a time extension on the approved Sperno Ranch vesting tentative map and subdivision.

Mr. Farmer, speaking for staff, said the wireless item is the council’s recommendation to repeal and replace PMC chapter 18.110 and that the proposed ordinance would refer to three policies covering macro towers, small cells and modifications to existing towers. He identified the 330 Bush Road item as Vesting Tentative Map 8680 and noted a separate time-extension request for Sperno Ranch will be considered as well. Commissioners commented that Sperno Ranch has returned to the commission several times and that the upcoming discussion will be of interest.

When a commissioner asked about timing for the Housing and Community Development (HCD) report, Mr. Farmer said the report will be on the city council agenda March 17 and “it has to be submitted by April 1 per the state deadline,” and that staff would confer about transmitting a copy of the report to the planning commission after city council review.

No formal actions were taken on these previewed items at the Feb. 25 meeting; they were listed for future consideration on March 11.
