County staff cite HVAC failures and $14,000 estimate to replace two units

County property management told the board it has received bids to replace two air-conditioning units and expects to buy them separately to avoid a single-purchase approval threshold. “We're running $6,700 for each unit and plus $800 for the wind baffles,” the county said; buying both will total about $14,000.
Staff also reported a malfunctioning chiller that serves the older side of the building. "The water is running at 100 degrees," a county staff member said, well above the expected 65–70°F; scale inside piping has plugged sprayer heads, and crews planned to disassemble and clean the sprayers and upstream strainer to restore normal operating temperature.
Property staff described the server-room unit as not working properly and another unit as noisy and near failure; the county said the major servers were relocated to a different room with a newer unit installed previously. Work will proceed in stages so procurement stays below the county's single-purchase threshold, and staff said they will return with needed purchase requests as appropriate.
