Perry Carnegie Library reports rising digital checkouts; council approves policy amendments

Head librarian Pam Rig presented the Perry Carnegie Library’s quarterly usage report on Jan. 26, telling the board and council that digital service Hoopla had 40–45 checkouts from October to December and that January checkouts already exceeded that figure.
Rig described recent and upcoming library programming: a returning Santa with a family photo event, an adult wreath-making program on Feb. 19 ($12, register by Feb. 12), an ongoing book sale, and a new bilingual picture-book collection in English and Spanish. She also noted recent capital work—north-window glazing and painting and partial upstairs carpeting—paid approximately $3,000.
Council approved two policy amendment packages for the Perry Carnegie Library: item A (circulation policy changes including lost/damaged items, overdue notices, e-books and interlibrary loan rules) and item B (policy amendments for library cards, paid temporary internet access and renewal/repayment cards). Both motions passed on roll call.
Library staff encouraged patrons to use Hoopla, available with a library card and a 10-digit phone number, and reminded residents about the free Little Free Library at the Seventh Street entryway.
