Following an executive session to discuss superintendent candidates, the board returned to open session and moved to name four finalists for the district’s superintendent search.
Miss Johnson moved that the board name the following finalists, announced in alphabetical order: Dr. Bethany A. Gals; Mr. Gregory B. Hall; Dr. Glenda F. Sheffield; and Dr. William T. Wright. The motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote.
The administration provided brief biographies in open session noting current or recent positions: Mr. Gregory B. Hall was identified in the transcript as serving previously in Florence 1 (assistant superintendent of secondary education); Dr. Glenda F. Sheffield as Chief Academic Officer for Palm Beach County Schools in Florida; and Dr. William T. Wright as superintendent of Sumter School District in South Carolina. The board said it will hold finalist interviews on September 16–17 and release a schedule for those days.
