The school board held a special call meeting June 26, 2024, and unanimously approved the superintendent's recommendations for professional certified administrators and professional certified educators for the 2024–25 academic year, and voted to contract Green Team to assist with the transition of superintendent-elect Dr Tony Henway. The board also allowed Board member Miss Green to participate by telephone and briefly entered an executive session from which it took no action.
The chair opened the meeting, confirmed public notice and quorum, and prompted a motion to permit Miss Green's remote participation under the district's telephone participation policy; the motion passed with members indicating their votes by raising hands. The board then voted to enter an executive session for personnel and contractual matters; the public transcript contains nondisclosable segments during that period. On returning to the public meeting, the board recorded that no action was taken in executive session.
On personnel matters, the board accepted the superintendent's recommendation to approve the list of professional certified administrators identified as Exhibit 1 for the 2024–25 academic year and separately approved the slate of professional certified educators for 2024–25. Both motions were made, seconded and carried with the board indicating unanimous support.
The board also considered and approved a contract for Green Team to serve as a consultant to assist with the transition of superintendent-elect Dr Tony Henway. The motion to award the contractual services was moved, seconded and approved by roll-call-by-hand (members raised hands to indicate votes).
Superintendent Dr Him reported that district leaders held a two-day administrative retreat with principals, assistant principals and district staff to work on the district’s vision, mission and goals for the upcoming year, saying, “we worked on our vision and mission and some goals for this year,” and that a finished product will be shared at convocation.
Board members noted upcoming back-to-school events and a regular board meeting tentatively scheduled for July 16. A request was made to recognize staff member Shamia Holes—who will be leaving in August after receiving a national award—at the next board meeting. The special call meeting adjourned after the board approved the final motion to end the session.
Votes and formal actions recorded during the meeting included allowing remote participation for Miss Green (approved), entering and exiting executive session (no action taken), approval of professional certified administrators for 2024–25 (approved), approval of professional certified educators for 2024–25 (approved), approval of Green Team consultant contract for the superintendent transition (approved), and adjournment (approved). The board indicated unanimous support for motions by members raising their hands; the transcript records seven members indicating approval on multiple motions.
