The Building Committee voted to approve sending Pilgrim School’s 60% construction documents to the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) for final review.
Presenters told the committee the design documents are effectively complete at the 60% construction-document stage and that a budget reconciliation shows the current estimate is within 0.1% of the prior submission. Presenters said the only substantive change to the prior submittal is a modest extension of the gym court to allow for NCAA striping if the district requires it. Committee members were told RIDE typically issues conditional approvals at this phase and that early-release bid packages can proceed in parallel with final review.
The submission request drew technical questions about what a 60% construction-document set includes, how structural and site work are prioritized in the design process, and how interim GMPs for early packages will roll into a final GMP. Presenters said structural steel and concrete drawings are substantially complete and that the RIDE review process often results in minor, conditional comments rather than wholesale redesigns.
A motion to approve the submission was moved by Miss gor and seconded by Mr mcaffrey; the motion carried by voice vote.
The committee’s approval clears the way for the designers to file the 60% set with RIDE and to proceed with the next procurement steps, including the issuance of early bid packages. The committee listed the next regular meeting on its calendar and adjourned after public comment and business concluded.
