Superintendent Jones presented a one‑to‑five survey that asks whether meetings incorporated results and student outcomes, whether time was managed effectively, whether discussion and decision making were clear and productive, and whether the meeting was an effective use of time. The superintendent said the survey can be hosted on the district’s Qualtrics account and accessed via a QR code.
Committee members supported the idea but sought clarity about scope (should the survey apply to work sessions, board meetings and special calls?) and benchmarks for analysis. Ms. Graham and others recommended collecting three to six meetings of data before drawing trend conclusions; several members also favored piloting the survey anonymously for an initial period and discussed whether individual members should be able to track personal responses over time.
Next steps: The superintendent and staff will work with legal and the parliamentarian to build workflow options (anonymous vs. logged responses, QR access, frequency) and return a recommended approach to the committee in January.
What speakers said: "It will take us less than 1 minute and it will help us as a board to provide transparency to the public," one committee member said. Another recommended anonymity initially to encourage candor.
The committee did not adopt a final survey policy; it asked staff to create implementation options and a recommended timeline for the pilot.
