MANSFIELD ISD honors student achievers and fine-arts program in September board brief

The board honored elementary “superstar” students from multiple campuses, including Jandrugo Early Learners Academy, Willie Brown Academy of Young Scholars, Louise Cabinet Academy of Young Scholars, Charlotte Anderson Preparatory Academy, JL Borne, Janet Brockett, Kenneth Davis, and Anime Dalton elementary schools. The hosts congratulated the students for “excellent citizenship,” calling out individual and campus efforts that contributed to the recognitions.
Mansfield High student Karen Constant was singled out after earning a Division I (superior) rating and being named an outstanding performer at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest, an honor awarded to a small number of students for exceptional musicianship. The brief also noted that students from Summit High School, Lakeidge High School, and Frontier STEM Academy were named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, a distinction earned by fewer than 1% of U.S. high school seniors.
The district’s fine-arts department received several statewide and national honors: recognition as a district of distinction in visual arts by the Texas Art Education Association, a district of distinction in theater arts by the Texas Educational Theater Association, and designation by the NAMM Foundation as one of the best communities for music education for the fourth consecutive year. The hosts framed these awards as evidence of the district’s sustained investment in arts instruction and student opportunity.
