The Nacogdoches City Council unanimously approved a slate of nominees to city boards and commissions during its July 9 meeting.
A councilman moved to accept the nominations as presented; the motion was seconded and carried without recorded opposition. The appointments include nominees to the Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Historic Landmark Preservation Committee, the Housing Authority Board, the Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities, the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
Council members said they had interviewed candidates over two afternoons and selected nominees from a larger applicant pool. No individual vote tallies were recorded during the work session; the motion was announced as carrying unanimously.
As a procedural matter, council members observed that work sessions are for study and discussion and that formal appointments and other items will be placed on future meeting agendas as needed for final ratification or additional action.
