Community member urges Aransas Pass ISD board to appoint Wayne Bennett as superintendent

Isabel Flores, introducing herself as a parent of students in the district and an Aransas Pass resident who works for the district, urged the Aransas Pass ISD Board of Trustees to appoint Wayne Bennett as the district's next superintendent. "Mr. Bennett has given countless hours and many years of dedicated service to his students and families in APISD," Flores said, adding that Bennett and his wife have graduated multiple children from district schools and have chosen to raise their family in the community.
Flores told trustees the district should avoid a long search that could unsettle students and staff and should invest in someone who has already invested in Aransas Pass. "We already have someone who understands our schools, believes in our mission and has proven time and time again that his heart is with Aransas Pass," she said.
The board did not take public action on the endorsement during the open session. The meeting later moved to an executive session authorized under the Texas Open Meetings Act for personnel matters; trustees did not announce any personnel vote in open session at the meeting's close.
