A presenter for the medical professions program said the program received a Texas Workforce grant of more than $215,000 to purchase clinical training equipment, including EKG machines, state-of-the-art mannequins and devices to measure students’ height, weight and blood pressure.
The presenter said the funding is intended to give students hands-on experience that prepares them to work alongside physicians and nurses. "This gives the students the opportunity to have the firsthand experience so that when they go out and work in the field, they're able to perform and assist the physicians and their nurses in their procedures," the presenter said.
The presenter added that the equipment will make participants "more marketable and helps them step up in their career as they go into healthcare." The presenter also thanked Texas Workforce for the grant: "I just want to thank Texas Workforce for the grant of over 215,000 that was issued to medical professionals."
