San Felipe-Del Rio CISD board approves hires, administrator appointments and superintendent contract
Summary

After reconvening from closed session, the San Felipe-Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District board approved a set of personnel actions and the superintendent's contract during the Aug. 11 special meeting.
Amy Childress presented the personnel report and recommended approval of resignations, retirements, vacancies and new hires discussed in closed session. The board approved the hires listed by administration: Ricardo Pena (art teacher, Garfield Middle School), Isaac Garcia (social studies teacher, Del Rio High School) and Nicole Lubeno (mathematics teacher, Del Rio Middle School).
The board also approved administrator appointments recommended by administration: Christy Baretta as dean of instruction for the New Tech program at San Felipe Memorial Middle School and Melissa Rivas as dean of instruction at San Felipe Memorial Middle School. The board approved Sarah Sunderland as a speech-language pathologist in special education and Mona Mendoza as librarian at Dr. Lonnie Green Elementary.
Trustees voted to accept the board s composite summative evaluation of the superintendent for the 2024–25 school year and then approved the superintendent's contract as discussed in closed session; both motions carried unanimously.
The meeting adjourned following completion of the agenda items. The approved personnel actions take effect as reflected in the personnel report provided to trustees.
