Goose Creek CISD Education Foundation reports $195,000 in classroom grants; outlines 2025–30 strategic plan

The Goose Creek CISD Education Foundation presented its annual update to the board, telling trustees the foundation has returned roughly $2.6 million to the district since its 2009 founding and that, in the 2024–25 school year, it awarded $195,000 in innovative teaching grants and $112,000 in designated donations.

Dr. Anna Espinosa, director of the Education Foundation and Partnerships, said those grants reached more than 100 teachers across 18 campuses. Board and foundation leaders described programs including the Innovative Teaching Grant program, a 'Get on the Bus' employee giving campaign, a 'Giant Grant Giveaway' in May, and the Students' Choice awards (this year the foundation received 598 letters from seniors nominating impactful teachers).

Adelina Gomez Abshshire, foundation board president, outlined strategic growth actions including conservative investment of reserve funds, expansion of restricted accounts for donor-directed programs (Special Olympics and memorial funds among them) and a comprehensive 2025–2030 strategic plan intended to deepen classroom impact and financial stewardship.

Foundation leaders thanked local business sponsors and said the organization plans to sustain and scale program support while maintaining restricted-account safeguards and donor stewardship. Trustees asked clarifying questions about timing for events and the structure of restricted accounts; foundation staff said some restricted accounts are donor-directed and require a minimum balance for formal restriction.
