The training, developed with the Texas School Safety Center and described in an introductory video by Michelle Gay, co‑founder and executive director of Safe and Sound Schools, aims to provide age‑appropriate active‑threat response lessons and a train‑the‑trainer model for K–12 staff. "We're excited to share this new one‑of‑a‑kind curriculum," Gay said in the video.
Committee members said they expect staff to review the session and provide a follow‑up report. The requester said the train‑the‑trainer approach would allow district staff to facilitate the curriculum for both students and employees after completing the Texas School Safety Center session.
The committee did not set conditions on attendance beyond asking for a follow‑up summary; the chair said staff will return with a report after the Thursday training.
