"Madam chairman, I make a motion to approve all the policy for section A," said Evelyn Infinger, who moved the policy approvals; the motion was seconded and adopted by the board.
Why it matters: The policy actions tidy the district’s policy book and remove provisions the board identified as obsolete; the superintendent said deleting the listed exhibits and policy items was part of routine updates.
The board also adopted Draft A of the 2025–26 school calendar, reflecting community and staff feedback that prioritized keeping an October fall break and preserving a transition day after winter break (Jan. 5). Superintendent Jeffrey Bewit told the board the district collected about 350–375 community and staff responses when choosing among three drafts. "Draft A pushes back a few days and provides an additional professional development day to support rollout of a new math curriculum," Bewit said. Evelyn Infinger moved to approve Draft A and Dr. Hodges seconded; the board approved the calendar by voice vote.
The calendar decision affects classroom and professional-development planning for the district; the superintendent said the extra day will be used for teacher training tied to a new math curriculum and noted the draft balances community preferences and staffing realities.
The board also approved two overnight field trips: a recurring middle-school program trip to North Myrtle Beach at the end of March, and an expedited overnight trip so wrestlers can remain at the state tournament through the weekend after the team unexpectedly qualified. The superintendent described logistical details including district transportation and on-site provisions. Jenny moved to approve the trips and Mr. Folk seconded; the board approved the motion.
What’s next: The board scheduled a special-called meeting in March to review Personnel policies in greater detail. After the public session the board entered executive session to discuss student hearings, personnel matters and legal matters.
