Resident urges St. Charles County Council to call ICE about detained asylum seeker

This was a false charge," Vinciano said, adding that Nemanji declared asylum on arrival and "for 7 years, she has been here following every law, every statute, attending every single check-in." Vinciano said she was a personal trainer, active in church and part of the local community.
He asked each council member to "take a little bit of time in the next 2 weeks" to call county connections at ICE, say the county is holding this person, and ask for her release, and requested that council report back on progress at the next meeting.
The council accepted Vinciano’s materials and moved on; the transcript records the plea and the request for action but does not record any immediate commitment or a staff directive to follow up during that meeting.
