Poquoson council accepts $1,969 Byrne Justice Assistance grant for police equipment

"On April 24, we were notified by DCJS that we were identified as qualifying for a grant of $1,969 for the federal fiscal year 2024 funds," Chief Case said, adding the department will appropriate the funds for needed gear.
Council voted to authorize the city manager to accept and appropriate the Byrne JAG funds; the clerk recorded the motion carried by unanimous roll call. The appropriation will be added to the FY2026 general-fund budget as a small, recurring‑type award when available.
