Marysville Joint Unified board delegates child development authority to superintendent, approves surplus property sale

The Marysville Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees on May 12 adopted a set of routine and program resolutions, including delegating authority over the district’s child development program to Superintendent Jordan Reeves and approving the sale of surplus district property to a local agricultural association.
The board voted to adopt Resolution 2026-27/01 authorizing Reeves to serve as the delegated authority for the child development program for fiscal year 2027–28, giving him authority to sign contract documents, funding applications and related agreements. Bob Eckhart introduced the item and recommended approval; the board approved the resolution by a recorded 7-0 voice vote.
Why it matters: delegating signature and program authority to the superintendent streamlines the district’s ability to apply for continued child-development funding and execute contracts for state-supported early-childhood services.
In separate action the board approved Resolution 02/2526/34 to accept an offer and authorize a purchase-and-sale agreement for surplus real property with the Yuba Foothills Agricultural Communities Association. Jennifer Posalia presented the recommendation and noted that Ryan Dozy and Lisa Baker, representing the Yuba Foothills chapter, were present. The board carried the motion by voice vote.
The board also announced outcomes of closed-session business, reporting it had approved three student expulsions, several contract suspensions and the revocation of a suspended expulsion, and had reached a settlement in an administrative hearing (case number 2026010659); each action was reported as approved by 7-0 votes.
Other routine personnel items approved included Resolution 25-26/32 recognizing Classified School Employee Appreciation Week and the annual declaration of need for fully qualified educators required by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing; both passed unanimously. The board approved the April 28 minutes and the consent agenda (items 13.1–16.7) by 7-0 votes.
The board adjourned and scheduled its next regular meeting for May 26, 2026.
