BSO reports month-to-month crime declines; deputies honored at Tamarac commission meeting

Broward Sheriff's Office representatives told the Tamarac City Commission on May 13 that overall crime numbers for April declined across categories while arrests and traffic citations increased.
A BSO speaker said crash numbers were down 14% in April and traffic enforcement citations rose 75%, which the speaker framed as a positive indicator of enforcement effectiveness. Deputies and detectives were recognized for rapid investigative work after an April 30 incident in which a person jumped the fence into a school playground and allegedly attempted to entice a child; BSO said detectives identified a vehicle and made an arrest within 24 hours.
BSO also presented deputies of the month honors for personnel assigned to the CST and criminal investigations teams. The commission and public thanked the agency for public safety work.
BSO noted it would present more detailed crime data in future updates and encouraged residents to report tips and thank deputies in the community as appropriate.
