During new business, a committee member described an email from David Small about a parcel owned by Peter Haney that may be of conservation interest because it is surrounded on three sides by Department of Conservation and Recreation land.
The committee corrected an initial mapping error and concluded the parcel is not the same privately owned acreage adjacent to Malone Conservation Area. Members noted portions of the parcel are mapped under Chapter 61 forestry classification and that much of the property is wetland or swamp. The chair said he intends to contact Peter Haney to learn whether the Nipmunk (Nitmunk) Conservation Council or other groups have plans for the site.
The committee took no formal action but agreed to follow up with Haney to better understand ownership plans and whether any partnership or trail expansion would be appropriate.
Next steps: chair to contact the landowner to clarify intentions and report back to the committee.
