The presenter reviewed fund-level figures and dedicated funds, noting that April this year “really outgained April ’25,” but urged caution because some 2025 totals were inflated by late state jail-housing reimbursements. “I’m kind of expecting about a 2 and a half percent increase when we finish up the year,” Mr. Samson said, and added that three-month moving averages have dipped below one-year averages, which may signal some slowing later in the year.
Committee members asked staff to produce separate charts that isolate ad valorem (property) tax revenue and to show jail-reimbursement timing so the committee can compare like months year to year. The chair said that splitting out those components will help planners “determine kind of consistent revenues” as the county grows.
Mr. Samson also listed balances in several dedicated funds during the January–April reporting period (including sales-tax, criminal-justice sales-tax, American Rescue Plan and coronavirus relief funds) and said staff will prepare visuals that show ad valorem and jail reimbursements apart from the broader general-revenue chart.
The next step is for staff to produce the requested breakout charts and present them to the committee at a future meeting.
