The Mayfield Town Council on Wednesday approved several routine fiscal items, accepted quarterly financial reports and set a tentative budget for public hearing as it moves toward adoption.
Clerk (speaker 1) presented the FY26 quarter-3 financial report showing total funds of $705,922 with the general fund at about $351,000, the water fund at about $218,000 and special funds near $136,000; the report noted a projected $61,800 draw from savings to cover current-year expenditures. The council signed the packet and voted to approve the quarter report.
A councilor moved to approve the tentative FY27 budget (the resolution was included in council packets) and, after a second recorded in the transcript as "Mitzi seconds," the council voted in favor to set the tentative budget for a future public hearing and final vote. The invoice registry dated 04/09/2026 through 05/13/2026 was proposed, seconded and approved by roll call; aye votes were recorded during the roll call and the invoice registry was accepted.
Separately, the council proposed purchasing a half share of irrigation water from Charlene Hatch; council discussion revealed the seller had other interested buyers and had not fixed a dollar amount, so the council tabled that purchase until a price is confirmed.
Why it matters: These approvals keep the town on track administratively, enable a public hearing on the tentative FY27 budget and preserve the council's ability to respond to seasonal needs such as drought-driven costs and enforcement contracting. The irrigation purchase remains unresolved until seller pricing is provided.
