Commissioners and residents raised concerns about established nuisance complaints, reports of animals roaming and recent additions of animal housing on the site. A public commenter who identified himself as a District 3 candidate urged county officials to consider a countywide chicken ordinance similar to Waycross's code so compliant residents could keep small flocks without ad‑hoc rezoning. "It's crazy to me that anyone in the city can, but if you live just outside of the county lines, you can't," the commenter said.
Staff and commissioners agreed the rezoning raises setback and nuisance enforcement questions; the item was carried forward for additional consideration and code review.
