Conestoga Valley board outlines comprehensive-plan priorities and launches AI task force

Conestoga Valley School District administrators provided the board a high-level update on the district's comprehensive plan, approved last April, and described how upcoming monthly presentations will track progress against plan goals.

Dr. Hartman, lead administrator, told the board the presentation was meant as an overview because the plan is new: "we just approved our new comprehensive plan last April," he said, and the intention is to embed the plan's goals into regular board reports. He summarized three primary focus areas: learner personalization and growth; learner well-being, achievement and belonging; and learner innovation and community partnerships.

The administrators described concrete year-one deliverables, including launching a middle-school dashboard to track multi-tiered supports (MTSS) and aligning Tier 1 curriculum across grades K through Algebra 1 and English 9 to raise proficiency, especially for identified subgroups. Dr. Ker, who led the MTSS overview, said the district will provide a fuller update in November as teams implement the dashboard and interventions.

Administrators also announced formation of an AI task force to help the district determine its approach to artificial intelligence in instruction and operations. Dr. Hartman said Mr. Madra and Dr. Aloa will co-lead the effort and noted that IU13 is forming a regional AI task force with district representation.
