Resident urges better meeting notifications; DOT to hold public forum on Bordentown roundabout

During the open public portion of the May 11 budget workshop, resident Giselle Chavelli identified herself and asked how she could reliably find out about council and other borough meetings, saying she only learns of meetings by chance online. Chavelli suggested the borough send emails or texts to notify residents.
Town officials explained the borough posts an annual meeting schedule on its website and uses a newsletter and Facebook to promote meetings; automated emergency/notification services (Nixle) require residents to sign up and staff offered to help Chavelli verify her sign-up for notifications. The clerk and mayor said staff will assist any resident who needs help registering for alerts.
Chavelli also raised the planned Bordentown roundabout project and asked whether the town would be involved in decision-making. Officials said the project is led by the state Department of Transportation, which will host local meetings to gather resident input; the council said it will advocate for residents’ concerns but that final design and payment decisions rest with the DOT.
