Dr. Michael Zakan and other members discussed strategies going forward: options include limiting packs to K—, reducing each pack to three books, or continuing to seek grants via newly engaged partners such as the Lincoln Center, which staff said has active grant acquisition capacity.
Staff emphasized the program remains a priority but that short-term scaling decisions may be necessary while the district pursues additional funding. No formal board purchase or budget vote was taken at the committee meeting; staff will continue grant applications and return with updates.
