Lisa Anderson, the district's connection care coordinator, presented the Be Well staff-wellness update and described how Parkrose has used a multi-year Oregon Well-being Trust grant to fund staff mini-grants, classes, and events aimed at rebuilding staff community after the pandemic.
Anderson said the district received a grant described in the meeting announcement as $250,000 to be used over a four- to five-year period for employee wellness. She described mini-grants allocated on a per-capita basis to sites, offerings that included art classes (pottery/charcuterie glazing), fitness options, and a benefits fair that drew hundreds of staff. Anderson said turnout varies by activity (small classes draw 5–20 people; benefits fairs drew "a couple hundred") and described a forthcoming family-friendly end-of-year party at Rossi Farms on June 3 to honor retirees and staff.
Board members asked about participation tracking and outreach. Anderson said staff rotate times and try to provide multiple access points so classified staff (drivers, custodians, nutrition/maintenance staff) can participate; she and the Be Well team use survey data to shape offerings and have begun collaborating with other districts and partners to look for ways to sustain the work beyond the grant period.
The board thanked Anderson for the update. The district did not take a financial action in this meeting; Anderson said staff are exploring small fees or other ways to stretch funds and will report back as they refine sustainability strategies.
