Peach Days planning continues; fireworks and low‑water events under discussion

The youth council and event organizers reviewed ideas such as a countywide barn dance, a dessert contest and a soapbox-car event; organizers said they will finalize an activities spreadsheet and assign responsibilities. Because of water limitations, some traditional activities may be scaled back or replaced.
Fire-department representatives discussed the feasibility of a fireworks demonstration. They said the city could coordinate a state‑approved display with certified personnel and after-action reporting, and that neighboring Castleville teams are prepared to partner. "Unless absolutely the state comes in and says, nope, your show should still go," the fire representative said, but added that organizers must complete state paperwork, safety plans and certified reporting to proceed.
Council asked staff to continue planning, finalize safety paperwork and post updates. No formal council action was taken beyond direction to plan and coordinate safety and logistics.
