Fire department reports training, drought precautions and corporate donation of extrication support

Randy Kenny, speaking for the fire department at the May 13 Farrant City Council meeting, reported on training, drought preparations and recent outside support for equipment replacement.
Kenny said the department has altered summer activities because of dry conditions, will limit water-spraying demonstrations and is monitoring potential burn restrictions from the state fire marshal's office. He also described recent mutual-aid and training activity and summarized outreach to regional partners.
Kenny read a letter of appreciation and announced a monetary contribution and equipment support from local energy partners after an extrication incident at a nearby solar facility. He said the contribution will help replace the department's hydraulics system and excavation equipment and that tools are expected to arrive within about three weeks. The letter listed participating companies and partners by name.
The mayor accepted a check on behalf of the city and thanked the partners. Council members praised the department's grant-seeking efforts and the coordination with county and state contacts.
Council did not take formal action on the donation at the meeting; staff will process the funds and coordinate equipment delivery and training.
