The Farrant City Council voted May 13 to approve a memorandum of understanding allowing the Castle Country Classic livestock event to use city facilities under a revised plan to keep much of the activity in Baron this year. Presenters representing the event (identified on the agenda as Crystal, Jake Thane and Megan Crossland) outlined the changes and asked the council to sign the agreement.
Council members asked organizers to avoid blocking a construction entrance near the track while Tusher crews are working. "So just ask that you don't block their entrance into that construction area," the presiding official said, noting trucks and water trucks would be moving through the site. Organizers said they plan to post no-parking signage and to place panels to discourage foot traffic around truck routes.
After brief questions the council member Brown moved to approve the MOU and the motion was seconded. A roll call vote was taken and the motion carried. The signed MOU will include the council's signature line and a copy will be retained by event organizers.
The approval authorizes city staff to execute the agreement as written and to coordinate logistics with public works and event organizers. The city noted that organizers must ensure pedestrian safety and keep construction access clear while county contractors are on site.
