Lancaster County authorizes NDOT participation and hires consultant for Saltillo Road roundabout projects

Lancaster County commissioners on Feb. 24 approved a resolution and program agreement to formalize state participation in intersection improvements at 38th, 47th and 65th Streets and Saltillo Road aimed at adding roundabouts, and they authorized an engineering and NEPA services agreement with Felsburg Holt & Ullevig.
County Engineer Pam Dingman described the items as related, noting the actions formalize federal participation and that coordination with the City of Lincoln and local developers is underway. "Items 5A and 5B were related and formalized federal participation for intersection improvements and roundabout development," Dingman said.
The county’s share of the total project cost was estimated at $771,000. The board also approved an agreement for engineering, design and NEPA services for the Saltillo Road project at an estimated cost of $764,550; Dingman said the project would be divided into two phases and described complexities in revising plans.
Both the resolution authorizing the Board Chair to sign the NDOT program agreement (R-26-0019) and the consultant agreement were approved unanimously (5-0).
The NDOT program agreement becomes effective upon execution by NDOT; the engineering contract will proceed under the project’s federal-aid status and the terms approved by the Board.
