The Fort Atkinson Plan Commission voted May 12 to approve a site plan for a south addition to the Jones Dairy Farm wastewater treatment facility, subject to conditions outlined in the staff report.
Neighborhood and Building Services staff described the roughly 8,400‑square‑foot addition and explained that the project meets most bulk standards but requests several waivers and adjustments. Staff recommended approval with these conditions: add 140 landscaping points at the corner of Rockwell and Janesville Avenue, waive the 50‑foot setback to align the addition with the existing structure, waive screening requirements for building mechanicals, and require the applicant to record sanitary/sewer easement documents subject to staff review.
Commission discussion covered small ground‑level objects shown on the plan view and whether additional screening would be needed along the adjacent trail; staff said existing fencing and site layout would provide screening and that the exact equipment types were not fully specified. Staff also said the sanitary easement documents were still being prepared but would be required as a condition of approval. Chair and several commissioners praised Jones Dairy’s continued investment; one commissioner called it “a fantastic investment.”
