Commission accepts two resignations, notes appointment responsibility for youth camp seat

The Upshur County Commission accepted two resignations during its May 7 meeting. Commissioner Douglas K. Bush resigned his seat as the landowner representative on the Mountaineer Trail Network Board, effective immediately; he recused himself during the discussion and vote to accept his resignation. The vote to accept the resignation was made by Sam Nolte and seconded by Kristie Tenney.
The Commission also accepted the resignation of Craig Presar from the Upshur County Youth Camp Board and the Board’s Nominating Committee. County Administrator Tabatha R. Perry told the Commission that appointment to that seat is the responsibility of the Upshur County Board of Education and not the Commission; Perry said she will send a letter to the Board of Education regarding the vacancy.
The agenda materials list a Mountaineer Trail Network vacancy through June 30, 2026, and other upcoming board terms. Commissioners reminded residents that letters of interest can be submitted to the Commission Office for consideration when vacancies arise.
