District staff notified trustees and the public that the Waxahachie Independent School District intends to apply for federal funds next year to enhance instruction and staff support. The district invited public comment on the intent to apply; the comment period will be posted on the district’s federal programs web page from May 29 through June 12.
In the annual investment report staff summarized district investment strategy priorities required under the Public Funds Investment Act (Texas Government Code §2256): suitability, preservation of principal, liquidity/marketability, diversification and yield (with yield listed as the least prioritized). Staff said the district primarily uses local government investment pools (TexPool, First Public/Lone Star) and a money‑market fund at its depository for diversification and liquidity.
Staff reported the district’s 2025–26 investment rate of return was a little over 4%, outperforming the 91‑day T‑bill benchmark used by the district (about 3.8%). No changes to local investment policy were proposed; the administration said it will return to the board in June for formal approval of current investment strategies.
