The Boone County Board of Supervisors on May 6 approved a $876,090 contract with JB Holland Construction, Inc. of Decorah for the county landfill leachate pump station and forcemain project, following the recommendation of the county engineer. Supervisor Shawn Bryant moved to approve the contract and Supervisor Scott Longhorn seconded; the motion carried with all three supervisors voting aye.
Landfill Administrator John Roosa and Doug Luzbetak of HLW Engineering attended the meeting. Because of a miscommunication, a planned public hearing on the landfill was omitted from the agenda; the board voted to reschedule that hearing for May 20, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. (motion by Longhorn; second by Bryant; all ayes).
The contract award and the rescheduled hearing were recorded as separate motions during the regular session. The contract figure of $876,090.00 was stated in the motion approving the bid; the board did not record any opposing votes or abstentions.
