Redevelopment commission approves consultant contract amendments and planning scopes totaling up to $240,000

The Michigan City Redevelopment Commission on May 11 approved several consultant agreements and amendments intended to support ongoing development projects and zoning code updates.
Staff described a not‑to‑exceed $30,000 amendment to the Chicago Consultant Studio (CCS / DAC Development) contract to assist with financial review and to finish work on the 5th and Pine development and related economic development agreement tasks. The commission moved, seconded and approved the amendment.
Commissioners then considered a $160,000 not‑to‑exceed scope from Tool Design to finalize Downtown Transit Development District (TDD) zoning, revise Michigan Boulevard corridor zoning, and assist through Plan Commission and City Council adoption. Staff clarified the near‑term tasks and said Tool would return with additional phases and budgets as needed. The commission approved the $160,000 figure by roll call.
Finally, the commission approved a $50,000 not‑to‑exceed agreement with DEF Consulting (Dan Bodich) to provide economic development analysis, tax‑increment financing support and rapid responses to site‑selector inquiries. Dan Bodich described the firm’s role in providing timely financial analyses to the city.
All three items passed with recorded aye votes from commissioners Clarence Hulse, Sheila Burleson Matias, Tracy Tillman and Sherry Wilson.
