Board reviews final IGA draft with Maricopa County treasurer, posts agreement to packets

The board reviewed a final intergovernmental agreement that would engage the Maricopa County treasurer to provide financial services to the district and directed staff to post the final IGA in meeting materials.

A staff member said, “I did put the final IGA in your packets for your review. As the chairman said, it's going to the Board of Supervisors next week.” The staff member added that the IGA incorporates Board member Cohen’s requested language on prompt disbursements and additional account language requested by Chase.

Board member Cohen said the board does not yet control district funds and that the group is establishing an account and protocols for accounting and reimbursements. “The Diamondbacks are out in front of most of this now because they've been spending money currently, and we need to come up with a mechanism to reimburse them,” Cohen said, adding the board will provide a full accounting once funds are transferred.

The discussion focused on administrative details rather than a final local approval. The chair confirmed the IGA will be transmitted to the county Board of Supervisors for its consideration next week; the district board did not take a final vote on the agreement at this meeting.

The board instructed staff to make the final IGA available publicly on the district website with related approved IGAs and to continue work on disbursement protocols and account setup so reimbursements to third parties can be processed when appropriate.

The public record shows no formal action on the IGA at this meeting; the Board of Supervisors will consider county-side approval next week.
