The Abington Heights School District board approved the first reading of a revision to Policy 801 (public records/right-to-know) at its Oct. 16 meeting that adds language intended to reduce automated and anonymous records requests.
A board member noted the district’s solicitor, Sweet Stevens Catz Williams, proposed adding a paragraph to address an increase in spam and automated requests for information. The change would require additional verification steps so that anonymous or bot-generated requests can be filtered before staff processes records requests.
Board members moved and seconded the first-reading motion; the motion carried on roll call and the revision will return for a second reading and final vote at a subsequent meeting.
