Norwalk commission delays social media relaunch, plans outreach to highlight women and gender-diverse leaders
Summary
A social media subgroup said it needs more time to craft a data-driven plan; members also proposed a project to highlight women and gender-diverse individuals on boards and commissions, possible collaboration with Norwalk Public Schools and the Fairfield County Community Foundation, and participation in Bridal Month and other tabling events.

Simone Morris, leading the social media subgroup, told the commission the team needs more time and wants access to city analytics to shape a broader strategy rather than making ad-hoc posts. "We need some more time to put some more meat on the social media plan and then a high level timeline," Morris said, asking to revisit the item at the next meeting.
Separately, the commission discussed a "highlighting women" project: Emma and a small subgroup reported they will reach out to city hall staff who work with boards and commissions to identify women and gender-diverse individuals to honor or profile on commission channels or potentially at an event. "We'll probably, I would imagine, meet again maybe to go over that draft and talk about what happens next," Emma said.
Members also discussed partnering with the Bike Walk Commission, tabling at Bridal Month, and connecting with the Fairfield County Community Foundation's Fund for Women and Girls. The Chair said she would reach out to a contact named Mindy to reengage that fund and explore alignment. The commission noted it currently has one vacancy and invited members to encourage applications via the boards and commissions page, which staff said has recently been updated. The meeting adjourned at 7:34 p.m.
