Trustees approved a recommendation to convert several successful pilot extracurricular clubs into permanent programs and to clarify stipend structures tied to building leadership and strategic plan responsibilities.
S5, who outlined the annual review process, said the committee recommended that clubs that had strong participation—at Benjamin and Evergreen—move off pilot status and become established, with corresponding stipend adjustments and MOU updates to the BEA agreement. "There are several clubs that were a big success this year," S5 said, noting art club, choir and play club among the winners.
Operational change: S7 responded to concerns about inconsistent club end times and announced a uniform policy for Evergreen: "Moving forward, all clubs at Evergreen will end at 4," S7 said, explaining the change will simplify pickup and staffing.
The board moved and seconded the extra‑duty statement proposal and approved it by roll call. The MOU attached to the extra‑duty statement will be updated and incorporated into the BEA agreement once the changes are finalized.
What's next: District staff will update the stipend language and MOU, post the revised schedules and ensure communication to families about the new 4:00 p.m. club end time at Evergreen.
