Leggett Architects and village staff presented the final design concept for the new Burr Ridge Village Hall addition and police facility renovation on May 11, previewing materials, sustainability features and next steps toward permitting and construction.
Architect Evan Mank described material changes and interior reconfigurations — preserving the police facility’s heavy‑timber roof structure, updating HVAC and roof replacement, adding solar panels to meet recent energy code requirements, and adding a flexible boardroom with an operable partition to create training and meeting configurations. The architects presented site‑plan changes, landscape concepts emphasizing native plantings and stormwater detention areas, and a parking analysis showing a net total of about 88 spaces to serve an anticipated 54 employees.
Staff said the municipal offices will relocate temporarily to 451 Commerce beginning June 1 while the new building is constructed and that board and plan‑commission meetings will be held at Gower Middle School during the interim. Trustees asked about signage, lighting spill and wayfinding for police vs. village hall functions; the architects said signage details and certain facade art were to be refined before zoning review.
No board vote was required; staff said the item will go to the planning commission for site‑plan and zoning review and return later this summer for building‑permit and bid approvals.
