Burr Ridge board directs staff to deny floor-area-ratio variance for Ambiance Drive property

The Village of Burr Ridge board voted May 11 to direct staff to prepare an ordinance denying a requested variation to permit a floor-area ratio above 0.2 for 602 Ambiance Drive (V012026).
Sarah Rousche, attorney for property owner Ravender Sethi, said the request had been reduced from a 0.25 FAR to 0.23 and characterized the change as a reduced increase in square footage; she said the owner sought the variance to remain in the community. The plan commission27s chair, Greg Chupiak, summarized the commission27s findings that the request did not meet the ordinance27s hardship standard because the commission found no condition of the land that produced a particular hardship. Chupiak said the land and setbacks were as recorded and the commission did not see a hardship to allow exceeding the established FAR.
After brief board-level comment the board moved, seconded and approved the direction to prepare a denial ordinance by roll call 6-0. The resolution follows the plan commission27s two prior denials (a 5-2 denial at first hearing and a subsequent 6-0 denial) and will be drafted by staff for future ordinance action.
What happens next: staff will draft the ordinance to deny the variance and bring it forward for the board27s formal action as required by local procedures.
