School leaders celebrate student athletic and academic honors at Coffee County board meeting

A district presenter said one district teacher advanced to the top 10 for Georgia Teacher of the Year; a state gala on May 29 was listed as the date the statewide winner will be announced.
District staff also noted that Coffee High received AP Access and Support recognition; the presenter explained AP Access criteria mentioned at the meeting (schools with at least 30% of AP exams taken by students identifying as Black or Hispanic, a minimum participation threshold, and at least 25 total exams administered for certain designations).
The board concluded the recognitions portion before moving into routine business and personnel items.
