Board approves $6.5M and $7.7M guaranteed maximum prices for summer bond work

The Haysville Board of Education approved two Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) packages to start bond-funded construction work this summer.
Kyle from Hutton, the district's construction manager at risk, presented GMP 1a covering Campus High School roof and mechanical work with an approximate GMP of $6,500,000 and GMP 1c covering Freeman, the administration building, Nelson and Oakville with an approximate GMP of $7,700,000. Kyle described work on roofs, rooftop mechanical replacements, interior corridor tile replacement, locker-room renovations and allowances for slab repair, acoustical ceilings and pavement repairs. District staff said certain materials and rooftop equipment will be provided by the owner while Hutton will oversee installation.
Project manager BJ explained Nelson Elementary will require classroom packing this summer and again the following summer to accommodate structural work and rooftop equipment replacement. Board members asked about bidding and schedules; Kyle said the packages were publicly bid and that a master schedule has been presented and will be refined with subcontractors. A motion to approve GMP 1a and GMP 1c was moved and seconded; the board voted 7-0 to approve the GMPs.
