Haysville to continue universal breakfast after serving roughly 122,000 free meals this year

"This will be, we are just finishing our fourth year with it. It's been an awesome program," Lee said, noting that hungry children cannot learn and that the program has shown increased participation even as overall enrollment declined. Lee reported the district has served about 122,000 free meals this year and that the program's yearly total reimbursement will be about $413,000. She said the district is not making large financial gains from the reimbursement but that the funding helps sustain the initiative.
Board members asked questions and thanked staff for the program. No vote was required for the report; the board acknowledged the recommendation to continue the program into the next school year.
