The Haysville Board of Education presented Superintendent Jeff Hirsch with a retirement plaque and announced the creation of the Jeff Hirsch Leadership Scholarship through the Haysville Education Foundation.
A board member described the scholarship as intended "to honor a legacy of thoughtful leadership, lifelong learning and deep commitment to developing others," and said it will provide financial support for teachers and administrators pursuing district-level licensure or leadership coursework. The board presented a retirement plaque and the district's '2 6 wonderful' recognition to Hirsch.
Hirsch accepted the recognition and thanked the board, staff and community. "I just wanna say thank you to the Board of Education for taking a risk on me 5 years ago," he said, and noted the scholarship will help "cultivate future leaders." He also reminded the board of upcoming dates including the last day of school for students on May 19 (with staggered dismissal times) and several graduation and promotion events.
