Taylor board introduces transportation director, approves new hires

The Taylor Community School Corp board introduced Alex Winfield as the district's incoming transportation director, who will begin a phased transition on June 1, board members said.

School officials described Winfield as experienced in large-route operations at Hamilton Southeastern and said his previous supervisor recommended him. "He's coming in a few days a week just to start running the job a little bit," a board speaker said, adding that Winfield is used to higher daily route volume than Taylor's system.

The board also discussed recent personnel decisions and noted difficult budget-driven cuts that affected staff. A speaker apologized for the impacts on employees and expressed appreciation for those affected, calling them "really excellent employees." The board separately announced the hire of Alan Seager as the middle school math teacher after renewed recruitment efforts.

The personnel items were presented as part of routine consent and new-business agenda items; motions to approve the related items were called and adopted by voice vote during the meeting. The board did not record dissent on these measures. The meeting closed after additional recognitions and routine business.
