Lannom Library committee reviews roof design, notes rising copier revenue and resigns from Imagination Library board

The Coffee County Lannom Library Committee met Feb. 12, 2026, in the Lannom Memorial Public Library conference room and approved routine agenda items and minutes while reviewing operations and upcoming capital work.
Courtney Mercurio, the library director, told the committee that the County commission approved the funding mechanism for a roof replacement at the January commission meeting and that the project is now in the design phase. Engineers and architects are working on plans expected to be finished in April or May; those plans will be presented to Capital Outlay for approval or modification before the project moves forward.
The committee also heard a financial update. "Finances are on schedule for the year," Mercurio reported, and she said copier revenue remains high and is expected to increase further after the closing of the Manchester branch. The committee moved to accept the financial report (Motion: Rupa; Second: Erin) and recorded the vote as "All in favor."
Members discussed the 2026-27 budgeting calendar and an action item was noted to consider moving the next full-board meeting up a week to March 5; the minutes do not record a final decision on that change. The committee also discussed longer-range planning and whether to include the Friends of the Library in future meetings.
In other operational updates, Mercurio said Ingram shipping times have improved though some manufacturing quality issues with books persist. The library has added two Tonies boxes and three sets of figures to its Library of Things in response to patron requests and available funds.
The minutes record that Lannom Library has formally resigned from participation on the Imagination Library board. According to the director's written report, the decision followed a shift in expectations for board members beyond the historical liaison role held by the children's librarian and included concerns about the handling and distribution of personal contact information and requests for public-facing participation that did not align with the library's internal policies on staff privacy and role responsibilities. The library said it will continue to support the Imagination Library's mission and assist patrons with referrals as needed.
Several procedural motions were handled without recorded opposition: the agenda was adopted (Motion: Erin; Second: Lynda), the December minutes were approved (Motion: Lynda; Second: Erin), the financial report was accepted (Motion: Rupa; Second: Erin), and the director's report was accepted (Motion: Lynda; Second: Rupa), each noted as "All in favor."
