Butte-Silver Bow commissioners reviewed applications submitted for the fiscal year 2025–26 Economic Development Mill Levy and referred the proposals to the Economic Development Committee for further consideration.
Commissioner Josh O'Neill asked the council to call for proposals and read a slate of recipients and requested awards or proposals, which included Advantage Butte ($40,000), Watson IT Solutions ($29,500), Butte Movement Studio ($15,000), Mainstreet Uptown Butte–Trees ($15,000), Folk Festival ($15,000), Butte Center for Performing Arts ($12,000), World Museum of Mining ($10,000), Mt. Gaelic Cultural Society ($10,000), The Shaft ($4,700), The Body Shop ($4,750) and Prosperity Training ($3,000). John Morgan moved to refer the applicants to the Economic Development Committee; the motion was seconded by Hattie Thatcher and the item was held for committee review.
Separately, the council heard presentations from 17 organizations that had received prior-year mill-levy awards. Presenters updated commissioners on how they used the funds; the council approved the presentation packet with stated exceptions.
The item remains in committee for vetting and recommendation before any final appropriations are made at a subsequent meeting.
